Hi Everyone!
Daisy and I got back from the vet yesterday, and wish we had
some news about what could be causing Daisy's hearing loss.
I walked away from her appointment with more questions
than ever after her visit.
Daisy is usually seen by a great doctor, who used to be
Penny's old doctor. However, when we arrived at the vet,
we were told Daisy couldn't be seen by this doctor, even
though we had an appointment with her! Instead, we were
seen by a doctor who seemed to be more concerned about
Daisy getting another teeth cleaning, than focusing
on what could be causing her hearing loss
and lethargy.
The doctor looked in her ears, and said, "Well, because she is
tired all the time, and because she suddenly lost her hearing,
she probably has a brain tumor and there is not a lot we can
do." She drew some blood, and said she would get back
to me with the results, and had nothing
else to say!
I immediately called Daisy's real doctor, and told her what
had happened. She got back to me pretty quickly, and told me
the staff was supposed to let me know that she wouldn't be able
to see Daisy yesterday. Instead, they told me we wouldn't
be able to see Daisy's original doctor ever again!
That's quite a mix up to tell a patient.
Anyway, the doctor told me she would make sure this kind of
thing would not happen again, and let me know that from now on,
she will be the only doctor seeing Daisy if that's
what I choose. Whew!
Just for thought, I don't think Daisy has a brain tumor.
Penny had a brain tumor, and her symptoms were extreme.
I think the chances are pretty low that I would have two sexy
young pugs, both get brain tumors. Doesn't seem that likely
to me. Daisy still can't hear anything right now, and is
shaking her head a lot. I think she might have an
inner ear infection, that can only be seen by
taking x-rays.
"Don't worry, I'm Okay. I didn't really enjoy having a
thermometer put in my butt though. I feel like having a snack.
Run over to Denny's and see what the special is today."
In the meantime, I have stopped the ear medication I was told
to use in Daisy's ears, and am hoping for a little improvement.
Who knows, maybe the ear ointment caused some of her hearing
loss. Daisy is in good spirits, and seems to be pretty
comfortable right now, so I'm sure she will be okay.
I also found out from the doctor today, the blood work taken
yesterday shows Daisy having a low thyroid level. We are looking
into it further to see why her thyroid is low, and what
we can do about it.
We will keep you posted!

Hi Ladies! I have been reading Daisy's blog for a while now...:-) Wish we coulda met while my Lola Pug and I lived in Las Vegas. We lived at Desert Inn/ Town Center in Summerlin and I have no doubt that Lola would have been fast friends with Daisy. Any who- we used the VCA Animal Clinic on Hualapai and Charleston (specifically, Dr. Strobeck). Lola has some kidney and joint issues and Dr. Strobeck and his staff were never anything less than wonderful to us... Maybe you could get in there for a second opinion? Sending you lots o' Pug love and happy thoughts! Love, Lola and Megan from Winnipeg
What a strange mix up!!! Hopefully everything is okay with Little Miss Sexy Thing!!!! We'll be thinking good things for you guys!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear Daisy is feeling under the weather. The mix-up at your vet's office certainly doesn't help.
Paws crossed that Daisy's issues are nothing serious.
Licks,
Sabrina
To Lola & Megan, do you mean Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada? That's where I live.
sending you great big, sexy, healing thoughts, good thing the right doctor is on the case now

Aw, poor Daisy girl! My boys hate the thermometer up the butt too!
I'm so sorry you couldn't see your own doctor, sounds like the one you saw was an a**hole!! I'd like to come over there and clock him one for you!
I'm praying for you Daisy girl, that they figure out what's causing your problems and having faith it's nothing serious.

Hi Dana and Daisy
The "real dr" will know how to solve this mystery.
What a messy confusion.
We will sit with you as we wait for more results..and improvments.
Shaking the head sounds to me like an inner ear infecion. But sometimes some medicines cause the hearing loss.

Oh honey, how fustrating. I hate how doctors' staff screw you around. Having many disabled pugs, may I suggest tryin hand commands with daisy right away. A very smart pug lady told me a long time ago that should be a part of every pug's training because so many pugs become deaf in their older years.
"Daisy I saw that its all you can eat pancakes at IHOP if you wanna go!" Hugs Sequoia
I hope Dasiy's ears clear up soon. Sequoia had ear infections for over a year and was shaking her head all the time too. Give Daisy extra hugs from us!

That is quite a mixup for a vet's office :( Good thing you got in contact with your usual vet and she straightened things out!! She sounds like a wonderful vet :)
We hope Daisy starts feeling better soon - it is spring and she should be out showing everyone how sexy she is ;)
Pugs & Kisses,
Yoda, Brutus & Ellie
WOW ear infection vs. brain tumor! I think Daisy might have some cappucino froth stuck in there...Keep us posted but I am sure she will be just sexy fine!
Mamma Heartbeat
oh poor girl!! i hope they figure out what is going on SOON and that daisy feels better!
Wow. What a frustrating and upsetting thing to happen at the vets. :o(
We're thinking about you and hoping all is worked out soon. (We agree, too - it seems really unlikely that Daisy has tumor).
We're sending you super strong sexy pug love to make your ears clear up so you can hear when you're mom calls you for dinner!
Pearl & Daisy
My goodness Daisy, you had to put up with quite a crazy mix-up at the vet's. I'm glad the Mommy talked to the "real" vet about you. We'll be keeping you in our prayers for good news.
Love,
Bennie and Martha
That vet needs to be throttled. Seriously...who says crap like that when they don't know what it is? Awful. I'm glad that Daisy is able to pull herself up by her sexy furry pants and keep positive. Sending good vibes your way.
Zoe the pug.
