Hi Everyone!
Today has been a whirlwind.
Daisy and I have spent the last few days, as well as
the entire morning today, trying to sort out why in the
holy soy balls, was my health insurance abruptly canceled
without someone notifying me. I went to pick up an eye drop
prescription over the weekend, and was waved away by the
pharmacist telling me I no longer had insurance, and
unless I wanted to pay $169.00 out of pocket for
the drops, I would not be picking up
my prescription.
"Lady pharmacist, don't you know that my mom has an
eye infection, and if she doesn't get those drops,
her eye is going to look really gross. I've got
59 cents and 89 pieces of kibble,
now give her those drops!"
To make the matter even crazier, the insurance company
recently cashed my check that was due to pay my insurance
for the next two months. They took my money, and then
took my insurance! Oh no they didn't!
Luckily, I have a lot of experience with people taking my
money and running, so I'm working on having them send a refund
check for the weeks that I did not have insurance. I will most
definitely not be staying with this company. Once a scammer,
always a scammer. Have any of you had to deal with
anything like this? It drives me nuts.

Hi Dana,
No love for insurance companies here. Looks like someone posted your payment to the wrong account number. Or did the pharmacist clerk get it wrong and really mean that the insurance company changed your formulary list and the drops are no longer covered?
I usually have good luck solving these problems once I actually get around to talking to someone.

I wish you good luck for getting it straightened out very quickly. I'm with Noodles: no love for insurance companies here either.
So what did you do about the drops and your eyes? An eye infection won't wait for the insurance company to get straightened out.
Hi Noodles!
I have been talking with the insurance
customer service people, and they continue to claim they have no record
of my payment, even though they cashed it weeks ago. I had to send them copies of my check to prove I indeed did pay,
and they were the ones who cashed it. They don't have a record of my recent payments, which is scary and are looking into it. I'm sure it will get
straightened out, but in the meantime
it is going to be a pain.
Hi Martha!
Luckily, I was able to get a cheaper prescription. Whew!
Hi Dana,
Your tale makes me very thankful to be Canadian and to have my health plan payments come right off my pay cheques.
It sure is a good thing you are organized enough to have copies of your cashed cheques (more organized than me for sure :P ).
I wish you the best of luck in getting this sorted out.
In the mean time, I hope you were able to get the eye drops. Your eyes are way to valuable to mess around with.

Wow, that insurance company is just crazy! I haven't had any problems with insurance companies myself, but a friend of mine is a disability lawyer in Calif. and her firm was the one prosecuting that insurance company that dropped the woman who was having chemo -- it was all over the news a couple of years ago. Yep, they took the insurance company for a nice sum of green papers! I sure hope you get things straightened out quickly! You would think 59 cents and 89 pieces of kibble would be more than enough! Sheesh!
Wow, how horrible. I'm with Noodles. There is no love for health insurance companies at my house either!
Toot on them.

terrible!!!!!! what is wrong with companies today. I am so glad we don't have to worry about that here in Canada.
That's terrible. Did they ever give you a reason as to why you were cancelled?
Jerks!
