Beefy Squishy Pumpkin Penny

Penny and I have been thinking about going to Pug-O-Rama
next month. The event is going to be taking place in
Henderson, Nevada, and it's going to be Halloween
themed.

We prepare all year for the tradition of Halloween.
In our opinion, it's the best sort-of-holiday ever
invented. We have not attended a pug event
since moving to Las Vegas, so it could be a
good time. Plus, every ticket purchase and
donation raises money for the Southern
Nevada Pug Rescue. WhooHoo!

Penny isn't comfortable around a lot of dogs or people. I think
she's autistic. Anyway, I was thinking about checking it out
by myself, and then I thought that might look funny if I
show up dressed up in a costume, minus a pug. So I'm
going to bring her and see how she does if we
decide to go.

Penny loves dressing up in her pumpkin costume.
She loves it so much, she wears it practically
every day from the 1st of October, all the
way through November. It looks very
comfortable, and makes a "poof"
sound, when she sits down.
Kind of like a squishy
pillow.

She's never been a pug who enjoys dressing up,
but she gets agitated when I attempt to take
her costume off. When she wears it, she
feels confident. I roll the car window
down, and she sticks her head out
the window, so people will see
her in the costume. She
likes the attention.
It's pretty funny.

I have seen this costume in previous years, on other
dogs, but I really think she could take the prize for
1st place for the best costume this year. I mean,
let's get serious here, who could deny her
sexiness, especially when she is
dressed like this?

I can't wait to see the other pugs and the costumes they
will be wearing. It's going to be pug overload, and I
will probably need to buy 7 camera cards for this
one event alone.

Flashback Friday

This photo is a flashback of, well.. earlier today.
This is Penny's sexy, lay on the bed pose.

Penny also enjoyed some bananas.
I call this, the banana series.
The title has depth I know.
So delicious!

The Shelter Pet Project

The Humane Society of the United States has just launched a new
campaign in an effort to help shelter pets across the US.
The Shelter Pet Project, is a new approach to the
traditional and usually sad public service
announcements we see and hear, cue
the Sarah Mclachlan music.

While I think the PSA's we are familiar with make people
aware of abuse, they have neglected shelter
overpopulation, and the animals in the
shelters, until now.

This new and more interactive campaign is using humor,
for both the web, and commercials. The pet personals
section has an online database of shelter animals,
where you can locate your potential furry friend.
There's an Adopt-E-Gram bit that lets you send
a gram to someone and pick a virtual pet to
go along with your message. These are all
features on the web page. All the while,
an interactive dog or cat hangs out
on your screen, talking to you,
and even giving you a
little dance.
I like it.

For the television commercials, common and short situations
are shown. You can even view them online. These situations
chronicle how most shelter pets come to be, well shelter
pets. Most are not in the shelters due to behavioral or
medical problems, it's because the owners are facing
foreclosure, jail, and because they are just plain
irresponsible, and do not want these animals
that will love them forever. It's done from
the animal’s point of view and what they
would probably say in human form to
us if we could understand.

I think it's pretty clever and well done. They have tailored
the whole campaign for the present. I hope it will open
people's eyes to how "normal" and loving shelter pets
are. They are just waiting for a break and someone
to bring them home into their family.

She Has A Whipped Cream Dependency Sir!

Penny went to Starbucks today. Shocking I know.
She was handed a small cup of whipped cream.
She inhaled most of it before this video
was taken, but what was left of it in
the cup, she tried to slap out of my
hand.

This video does not do justice to how crazy she
can get when it comes to her whipped cream
dependency. It amazes me how human-like
she is sometimes.

It would not surprise me if one day I came
home, and she was sitting on her pillow,
on the couch, will a bowl of Jell-o
between her pug legs watching Mad
Men or True Blood. Probably with
the remote not far away.

Summer Of Bugs

Penny and I have discovered some curious bugs while
adventuring around Las Vegas these last few months.
Penny is fascinated by these creatures. The main
bugs she has ever been around are ants, bees
and butterflies. Does that mean Penny has
been sheltered too much? I never let her
get close to these bugs. I don't know
which ones will devour or sting, so
it's better to play it safe.

You just don't see tarantula's, giant beetles that chase
pugs, and flying insects that resemble dragons in
the San Francisco Bay Area. And that's a
good thing.

We thought we would share some photos
with you. We took a few of these photos
at Lake Mead, which was a sight
from afar, but up close,
not so pleasant.

Run for it!

We love Ladybugs

We don't love giant spiders

The Grass Feels Delicious On Her Pug Toes

We finally made it to the park today!

It cooled down just enough for Penny and I to
hang out at the park for a while. She was so
excited, she ran half the length of the park.
I also ran half the length of the park, since
Penny has a fear of the retractable leash.
She hasn't had that type of exercise
in months!

I am going to try and get her to shed a few pounds
once fall arrives. She's always sexy no matter
her size, but she'll be a lot healthier
if she can tone her beefy pug
backside just a little. All she
needs is a little more
cardio.

When we got back from the park, Penny was so
stubborn, she refused to walk anymore.
She stood still in the parking lot until
I carried her inside.

She's not spoiled at all.

Squishy Faces In Unemployed Places

Penny and I have been hard at work on our dog tags
as well as searching for a job that will pay the bills.
It feels like it was just yesterday that me and my
fellow classmates walked tall with our college
degrees in hand, hopeful, and ready to enter
the working world. Then, the economic
downturn hit, and it hit us hard.

Everything we had been told about our near future,
was no longer relevant. From the 300+ people in
my department that received their degree last
year, three that I know of, landed their dream
job. That doesn't mean we have given
up though.

A lot of people have been tirelessly
searching for work, despite little to
no results.

We are hard workers, with an abundance of skills
ready to be used at the drop of a hat. Yet over and
over we are told on interviews that we are up
against 900 other applicants, and the
prospect of obtaining that job, is
grim.

At this point in time, all you can do is keep doing what
you are doing. Apply in other states, other cities and
other industries you wouldn't normally look in.
Relocating is a pain, but if the job becomes
yours, take it. It's incredibly frustrating to
come close to a job, as I just did, and
beat out hundreds of others, only to
be told you didn't get it.

But I encourage others to keep up the search.
Our furry and human friends mixed in with
a little hope that things will turn around
is all we have right now.

1 2 3, Penny Wants You To Buy An ID

Penny did not feel like modeling my ID tags today.
But despite this, she was able to give me one
model-esque pose for this blog. This is
one sample of the ID tags I will be
selling next week on my Etsy
account, only with better
photos I swear.

I will post the link here for my etsy page in a few
days once everything is up and running.

I'll be listing both brass and aluminum tags
with 5 colors to choose from for the
name and phone number area.
I hope you and your sexy
dogs will like them!
I know Penny does.
She will seal every
order with a pug
kiss.

Penny also wanted me to show you what she
was up to this morning. She was under the
bed for a while, when she emerged, she
had a long string on her face. It was
strange. She also had a cup of
whipped cream today! We
really need to go on
vacation, so I can
take some new
photos.

Bright Lights, Big Dreams, Penny Thinks Las Vegas Has The Best Whipped Cream

Soo… what are we doing tomorrow?

I’m pretty sure this is what Penny’s facial expression is asking
me in this photo. The answer to her question is: Working on
my beefy dog ID tags. I am very close to having the ID tag
samples done. I should have some photos uploaded
on this blog tomorrow before I officially list the
tags for sale on my Etsy account.

I’ve always believed that if you have something you love
to do so much that you don’t mind doing it for free,
then one day, you can find someone to pay you
for it. Well… I’m doing what I love without
getting paid for it, so I hope the rest
will come. If not, then I am still
going to continue to make
beefy dog products that
will make all dogs
feel sexy.

My Name Is Penny, And I Have A Whipped Cream Addiction

Penny's whipped cream addiction is the reason
she needs a bath every week. When she
dives into a cup of whipped cream,
her face smells like old milk. And
that smell, seeps through her
entire body, making her
smell like a beefy pug
container of spoiled
espresso.

One of the baristas at Starbucks has been giving
Penny a small cup of whipped cream when we
go through the drive-thru. Now, Penny
thinks she is always getting her own,
and has developed a new bark/cry
noise to get the attention of the
workers. I love how they give
her treats. I have never been
anywhere, other than the
vet, where someone will
cater to my beefy pug
baby.

I always tell her that begging is never
the answer. She rarely listens.
Probably because she always
gets what she wants when
she begs.

Fierce Friday Photos Of Penny

Ask your doctor if you may have a heart condition,
because these photos may send you into cardiac
arrest after looking at Penny's sexy face.
She's such a diva.

Don't Take My Photo...Okay I Changed My Mind

Penny was helping me organize my paintings
today. By the look on her face, you can tell
she was thrilled. The last time she came
near my paintings, she ended up with
green paint on her face. Luckily, it
washed off, but that would have
been a mess if I had been using
oil paints. If you scroll down,
you will find a photo of the
green paint incident.

I Love You, Now Give Me My Treat

Penny had a fantastical day today. She celebrated
the second day of September with a cup of
whipped cream, given to her as a gift
from the barista at Starbucks.
She loves it when people
give her treats!

She also went outside and watched the sunset.
The clouds were lovely and fluffy. They made
Penny very hungry. I think she was more
interested in flirting with the beefy man
dogs than anything else. It was the
first day she was able to go on a
longer walk in almost a week
due to the smoke that was
rolling in from Southern
California. Remember,
only you can prevent
forest fires.

Penny Sits At The Table

Penny sits at the table and levitates when she's hungry.
Okay, she can't levitate, but she does sit at
the table like a person.

What magical talent does your dog posess?

Penny decided to cheeze it up for the camera last night.
She started out with a few teaser poses, and shortly
went into model action when she realized I would
be posting these on her blog.
